WHY YOU NEED RETINOIDS + RETINOLS & WHY FACEMAKER R.B.F. AGE DEFYING SERUM IS FOR YOU

UNMASKING ONE OF THE SUPERHEROS OF SKINCARE: RETINOIDS.

helloooooo FACEMAKER NATION!

Are you ready for this one?

We're diving into the fabulous world of retinoids (praise 🙌) - those magical little potions that promise to turn back the clock amongst mannnnny other benefits.

In the world of skincare, few ingredients have gained as much popularity + recognition as retinoids have! These potent compounds, derived from Vitamin A, have revolutionized the way we approach anti-aging & skin rejuvenation.

Whether you're a skincare enthusiast or a newbie looking to enhance your routine, understanding the science + benefits behind retinoids can help you make informed decisions about incorporating them into your skincare routine.

Let's dive in...

The Science

Often referred to as the "gold standard" of anti-aging skincare, retinoids work their magic through a process called cell turnover. They stimulate the production of collagen (AKA the protein responsible for maintaining skin's firmness and elasticity) while also promoting the shedding of dead skin cells.  This dual action results in improved texture, reduced fine lines, & a more even complexion all around! Retinoids also have the power to influence the way skin cells differentiate, grow, & repair, making them a versatile ingredient for addressing a variety of skin concerns. Seems like they do it all, right?

One retinoid in particular is a favorite ingredient in the FACEMAKER'S R.B.F.

Allow us to introduce you to Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate (HPR), also known as Granactive Retinoid. HPR has gained popularity due to its effectiveness in addressing various skin concerns WITHOUT some of the common side effects associated with traditional retinoids such as redness, major dryness, & light/heat sensitivity. HPR is a retinoid derivative, meaning it is chemically related to vitamin A (retinol) + its active form, retinoic acid. Similar to other retinoids, HPR works by binding to retinoid receptors in the skin. These receptors play a role in regulating various cellular processes, including cell turnover, collagen synthesis, & sebum production. This can lead to smoother, more youthful-looking skin. YASSSS.

Ready to learn about some of the benefits of HPR, why we love it, and why we chose to use this ingredient in our RBF age-defying serum? Let's go!

  • Anti-Aging: HPR reduces the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and other signs of aging by promoting collagen production and increasing skin cell turnover.
  • Skin Texture: It can help improve skin texture by encouraging the shedding of dead skin cells and promoting the growth of newer, healthier cells.
  • Acne: Retinoids are effective in treating acne by preventing the clogging of pores, reducing inflammation, and regulating oil production.
  • Gentle Formulation: One of the key advantages of HPR is its reputation for causing fewer side effects compared to traditional retinoids like retinol or prescription retinoic acid.
  • Compatibility: HPR is often considered safe for use with other skincare ingredients, including antioxidants, peptides, and hyaluronic acid.
  • Gradual Results: Like other retinoids, HPR's effects on the skin are not immediate. Visible results may take weeks to months of consistent use to become apparent, but hey, nothing great comes easy!
